Trama: All'inizio del 21° secolo, il Giappone viene devastato da una catastrofe che cambia anche la morfologia del luogo trasformando gran parte del Paese in un deserto, e il comando viene preso da un tiranno. In un villaggio, un profeta annuncia l'arrivo di un salvatore che riportera` la pace e la liberta`, ma nascono due gemelli, un maschio e una femmina, quindi Tatara (il maschio) viene considerato da tutti il futuro salvatore. I due comunque arrivano felicemente al loro dodicesimo compleanno quando succederanno degli avvenimenti che sconvolgeranno la vita loro e del loro villaggio.
